Hi I have been looking at complementary therapies and wonder if anyone has tried acupuncture? I am struggling to get allergies and asthma under control with meds and doctors seem to send me round in circles so liking for something else to try to work with what they are doing. Any experiences would be welcome 😀
Acupuncture: Hi I have been looking at... - Asthma Community ...
Acupuncture
Would like to hear what others say too. I've not had any complementary therapies but would be interested to hear from others.
So from a personal point of view, I have tried acupuncture, Chinese herbs, Homeopathy, and a nutritionist, none of it worked for me. But know that these things sometimes work for other people. I do know that there are some common food triggers in Asthma, particularly dairy, so it may be worth trying cutting it out. Also some people have a bad reaction to Sulphites, in wine, and preserved meats, such as ham and other foods. So it may be worth giving those a miss for a while and see what happens.
I would try and get your doctor to refer you for comprehensive allergy testing.
Good luck I hope something works for you

No experience of acupuncture but I saw a Bioresonance therapist who did allergy and intolerance testing this told me even the most mildest of things that the hospital skin prick test didn't show. It wasn't cheap but I found it very useful and has helped me a lot.
Worth a try. Didn't work for my hayfever but completely cured a friend's daughter so, as risabel says, what doesn't work for one person may work for another!
Thanks both for the replies it's not cheap but am assured by the therapist it won't make things worse.
Acupuncture may work for you, if you don't expect too much from it. I found it very relaxing, and it gives one time to just be which can be helpful in itself. Asthma is a condition that causes stress, never mind what else is going on in life.
I think you need to know what your allergies are as sometimes they are not that obvious. I'm sure you don't expect to live in a bubble, but keeping away from trees, for example, would help if you are found to be allergic to tree pollen.
Best of luck with all this!
Thanks for the reply I agree it would help just to know and think anything to help with stress can only be good. Have a good day
Hi check out my reply to Jess33.
In addition rubbing oil (olive or coconut) on your chest, back & front helps. If somebody else is doing it, they could tap your chest by forming a cup with the hand and tapping all around. Lie on your front and tap back, then do the front and the sides. This will help to loosen the phlegm. Steam inhalations help too. If you do not have blood pressure problems, eat liquorice - the black ones from liquorice allsorts are fine.
