I hate it when I have to use my emergency steroids. Everytime intake them I never lose weight. Luckily I never put anything on but it can be frustrating and depressing. Has anyone else had this problem

Steroids
It's about a year since I was on high doses of steroids for asthma, but have been on a fairly low dose for the last two and a half years to alleviate the pain caused by Polymyalgia Rheumatica - started at 20mg a day, now down to 4.5mg a day and I'll start dropping to 4mg a day soon. I used the discipline of Lent to stop eating comfort food, sweets, crisps, biscuits, etc, and stop drinking alcohol.. I started well, but I've now lapsed into the odd bottle of wine, and the odd bar of chocolate. The only way I'm likely to lose weight is by exercising more, even catching the bus rather than driving. Walking to the shops rather than going by car. I live in a very hilly part of West Yorkshire, so I can only walk on the flat up and down the road I live in and an adjoining road, before encountering a hill. So I tend not to walk, but I should. I've had asthma for the last 41 years, since I was 30. It's largely controlled with inhalers. I really must walk more.
I have had asthma for 45 yrs but since I had a very severe attack 4 yrs ago that hospitalised me. Since then it has been up and down was giving steroid tabs by hospital to help bring it back under control. Since February I have had to use them twice. I exercise a lot especially walking and try to do 5 to 7 miles a day and have an exercise machine that I use at home when I unable to get out. Had the same problem last yr but subsided after March was past. I to do my best to keep lent as well but with celebrations going on its sometimes difficult. At least this wk will be fine as the asthma is back under control again. Thanks for your reply.
