Just wondered if anyone has had a Synachen test?? What's the difference between a short and long Synachen test and what does it involve??
We saw maddies endocrine cons today and he has said she has to go in for a long Synachen test with the view to going onto hydrocortisone. (She's had adrenal insufficiency for 2yrs and been on pred for it)
Anyone with experience of this??
short synacthin you get a blood test, then an injection in your bum (which is cold and so stings 
) and then aother blood test after half an hour. my understanding of the long one is that the blood test is done more times throughout the day! (i had short so thats not a guarantee) wasnt too hard, they check you quite a lot to check you arent reacting to the synacthin. was dead boring hehehe!
