I've been reading about cough variant and nocturnal asthma. My daughter definately falls under one of these two. How can I go about getting her tested or whatever is required to obtain a firm diagnosis?

How to get firm diagnosis?
It's a shame you haven't got any replies, as I too am interested in replies. My daughter is on a trial of ventolin after suffering with a cough and am interested to see what will happen next.
How long has you daughter been having trouble? What medication is she using?
About 2 to 3 years now. She's on 200mg flixotide morning & night plus ventolin as required. Last week was horrendous but i think we are finally through it. She's still having exercise induced coughing guys through the day, which is new, she mainly is a nighttime cougher. She used almost a full ventolin inhaler last week
there is no way of making a firm diagnosis about these types of asthma and it dosn't really make much of a difference as it is still treated the same.
My reason for asking is in an attempt get better treatment during her attacks. She is not a typical wheezer, she's a cougher and alway in the night, so it's always OOH that sees her. by the time we wait for an appointment time to be assigned to us then go to the appointment, the attack is finished. I am presumed an over protective/reactive mother and made to feel like a time waster because my child ""has a cough""
