Wondering when I'll get better

Just had a lovely chat with one of the asthma nurses at Asthma.org. I've been working from home the last few days after I attempted going back in after a particularly nasty chest infection. Then I was given 5 days worth of Pred (20mg a day) and antibiotics and I have to say that on the Pred I was starting to feel a bit better. Then I tried the commute, totally struggled and now I feel like I've gone back to square one again.

The nurse suggested I get back to my doctors and talk to them about my meds as she thinks I should be back on Pred and was possibly under prescribed :(

Sorry to have a little moan but all I want to do right now is feel normal again. Argh.

Wouldn't it be lovely to have take-away style doctors that you can speak to and then a delivery scooter drops off your meds ;)

So I went back to the doctors today and had another chest X-ray (last one was Aug I think) and lots of questioning by the locum doctor. She thinks it's possible two things, my asthma and something else...but didn't want to say what. I've got to go back in this Tuesday to see the nurse and doctor so that's another few hours at my GP surgery. Just glad to know that I'm not going crazy when I think I should be better by now.

The one thing she said was interesting was that she thought my allergy to mould spores could be at the core of my problems and that this wet weather really isn't helping matters.

Mould spores are a trigger for me and worse in damp weather. I've had a dehumidifier at home for a few years so there's not as much mould now, so it's much better.

I hope you're feeling better soon. Lou x

Hi Kat,

I know the wanting to feel normal again so feel free to moan! Hope you do feel better and they can work something out at the surgery. Do you live somewhere very mouldy? My house is pretty damp and mouldy so it was a major relief to find out that mould isn't a trigger for me; if it is for you, not sure what you could do but maybe dr would know - other people must have this issue and there might be an environmental health solution for getting rid of it? Just talking off the top of my head here really...

I like the idea of takeaway style drs, though I might be slightly disappointed when they didn't deliver a pizza lol.

Thanks Lou. Been seriously considering a dehumidifier since we get quite a lot of condensation on our windows every day and our bathroom only has a fan and no window :( Otherwise this flat is pretty good mould wise. I tackle any mildew by spraying it with white vinegar.
