I haven't done any research but from personal experience it can depend on their own personal experience of asthma and what children they teach who has it. Those who are teaching a severely asthmatic child are more likely to want to find out about it. Prents often have to do their own teaching for epipens, nebulisers etc.
As i teacher i agree with the previous post, it certainly depends on the teachers experience.
Being one of the 8 asthmatic teachers in my department we have a good knowledge of asthma, but in other areas the teachers certainly dont have a good understanding.
It is also something not mentioned much, despite the vast number of pupils suffering, we hear about allergy and what to do but asthma get's overlooked in my opinion
