Consultant???

Hi.

I was just wondering, at what point do you get a referral to see a consultant specialist?? Is it something your Dr will do automatically or do you have to request it? Just feel I'm not getting anywhere with GP. He described my asthma as ""significant"" but not sure exactly what that means!

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Its usually once gp has run out of options or when diagnosis is debatable. then gp will refer first to resp consultant so dont expect the likes of brompton etc at first!

ususally you get referred to see the chest dr at your local hosp first, only when all avenues are exhausted would you normally see the consulatnt and then possibly onto a specialist centre, but perservere with gp and possibly see another one at the surgery as not all are the same!
