Does anyone else suffer from hoarseness, practically losing voice?
I seem to get it periodically, but at the moment it's really bad, and I don't know why. I feel really tired, but no other symptoms. The asthma nurse checked my inhaler technique last time round and that seemed to help for a while, but this seems worse now. It's very annoying.
Do you use steroid inhalers such as seretide, flixotide or becotide etc?
And do you use a spacer with them? (if an MDI / aerosol inhaler)
steroid inhalers used on their own can sometimes cause hoarseness and or oral thrush.
The key things to remember when using a steroid inhaler are
1 - use a spacer every time if you can. this ensures more of the medication goes down into your lungs and doesn't get stuck in your mouth or throat
2 - wash your mouth out or clean your teeth after using it.
This washes any residue away
Hope this helps a bit and you are feeling better soon.
Hiya
yes I use seretide, but haven't had a spacer. I had oral thrush earlier this year too, maybe it might help if I used that. I already clean my teeth immediately after using the inhaler.
