Does any of you guys feel like your second home is the resp ward and feel daft everytime you have to go. My gp sent me in on tues and all I could think the poor staff on ward 9 must get sick of seeing me lol. It would be nice to know if anyone else goes through this. Thanks peeps xxx

yeah i gop through this and also end up ion the same bed sometimes. this happened for four admissions in a row. i do sometimes wonder if that ward is my home address and my other address is my visiting address as all i seem to do it visit it for short periods!!!

hope youget out soon

I know exactly where you are coming from , having spent a quarter of last yr on 1 ward I too feel like its my second home. Sometimes when im in if another ""young "" person comes in im often asked to fill them in on everything(if i can) and ive hellped out so many family and other visitors its mad!!! One nurse even offreed me her uniform!

One the plus side by just going onto this 1 ward it means the staff on the whole know me well and listen if i say things arent right but it has made them complacent as they know as they can leave me to self medicate they often then dont write down the correct amount of nebs etc whjich in turn has caused probs when i have deteriorated quickly.

I guess i fit this description quite well, thou don't tend to stick to just one ward since july ive done 7, 15,16a,17, 25 and 33 (sounds like a chinese order lol) , Its a bit strange when you're on 1st name terms with most of the doctors!

my mum does mainly at christmas time some of the nurses are on frist name terms with her, she finds it helps knowing the nurses like that as they know what is wrong with her she has bad asthma and copd

I am sure years ago that there was a bed with my name on it!

What I didn't like was the attitude from the occasional nurse saying 'Oh no, not you again!!' Used to make me feel really bad that it was something that I was doing or not doing that ended me back in hospital.

Now it is nice to see new faces on the nursing staff when I occasionally pop in though the hard core brigade are still there which is reasuring!

Kate

The staff in my local a + e quite often recognise me and I'm usually always in the same cubicle right opposite the nurses station where they can keep an eye on me! Also I've had the same nurse look after me 5 times on MAU. Most of the staff are really good but occasionally there are ones who can't resist saying 'this place is your second home' or 'back in again, what was it this time?' which is kinda annoying.

the a and e recepionist new by address off by heart lol

yeah - sure do... am regretting having actually having had to figure this one out for medical staffing at work....

6 Admissions in past year (for asthma) inc 6 visits to ITU (2 in 1 admission..) but the worrying thing is that this has racked up a total of 7 months in hospital as a patient, in the very same hospital where I'm meant to be working! sadly only managed about 3 weeks at home since mid sept, but have finally escaped!

the nurses all know me very well by now, one of them even cheekily suggested i changed my hometown on facebook to ward 3!

KSD

My god ksd and I thought my time spent in costa was bad 14x in a year at least I came home for at least a month. Just want to say thanks again guys because I know I put it across as a joke (as in calling costa second home) been stuck in costa alot sometimes it does get you down and like some of you said SOME staff say silly comments which dosent help. but when you have this site you know your not alone out here in this big world. So thanks peeps take care xxxxx
