Hi everyone.
The doctor yesterday prescribed Symbicort for me to try.
Had a couple of puffs before I went to bed and woke up at night with chest pains. Not coughing type pains, more like pulled a muscle type pain. Could this be the Symbicort?

Hopefully someone more wise will be able to answer you better, but I just say I do experience sometimes shortness of breath, coughing and yes, also, chest pain after having taken my symbicort or some other meds. Sometimes I also wake up due to them, or just one of them.. So I 'd say your problems can be due to the med and be quite normal, going away when your body gets used to the stuff, or be unnormal, or also unrelated to Symbicort. I don't know, but I think Symbicort MAY cause it...
Sometimes it's really tricky try to tell, if coughing/pains etc are due to 'mere' asthma or the asthma medication.. 'Which was first, egg or hen?' LOL
Thanks for replying Niccia. Symbicort seems to be working pretty well at controlling asthma so far. The pains do not feel asthma related as I haven't been coughing. They seemed to come on at night, I can't sleep either, feel like I'm buzzing. Think it's related to Symbicort because as soon as I took it, I felt anxious and nervous, also shakey. Anyhow, on a positive note asthma is improving.
I started on this inhaler about a month ago now, and I experienced bad pains in my chest for the first few days. I also had sharp pains in my lungs as well, but after about a week, it stopped hurting. I think maybe its just your chest getting used to it. My asthma has been ok on this inhaler (although i've been ill for a long while). It's not made it any worse, or any better really! It must be doing something though, otherwise i would have been in hospital.
I'm glad i'm not the only person who experienced pains in their chest on this inhaler.. i thought it was just me!
