Help with an application?!

I am applying for a post graduate course at my university and it asks if I have a disability and provides a drop down menu with the one of the options ""you have a long standing illness or health condition"".

Now i am not registered with a disability of any kind, but the option above is one that I wander whether it applies to me? and if it does, should I select it? I am worried that it might make my application one that they will not want to consider as much as if i was healthy?

I only have moderate asthma. Im confused! :(

In past I've declared my asthma. Stating controlled by medication. I always got the job or course. Recently when health got worse and employer upset with sick time. My health declaration made it harder for employer to end contract. So honesty paid off

Iv also always stated that i have asthma that is controlled. I was told that it asthma and any type of long term condition is a hidden disability. It shouldnt make a differance to how they view your application, as I dont think they see that bit of the application, thats more for the HR people etc, i think anyway, and its more to help you when you get on the course

so is asthma automatically considered an unseen disability? or do you have to APPLY to make it one? Uhmm.. i dont know if i am making sense here?... its like when you have only one leg, you are not disabled till you get granted disability status. or am I wrong here?..

You have a long standing illness - So I would tick the box! It doesn't matter if this causes disability or not...

I was told if my asthma made me more likely to have sick days better to declare it.

It depends on the severity of ur asthma before it's labelled as a disability. Dependent on the course most don't turn u down for asthma unless there is a great deal of physical demand and ur health is at risk in doing it
