I know this is a strange name for a post, but given how my asthma, IBS and chest infection have played this weekend, its a general feeling I have. I know the psychological state of someone can help or hinder illness. I guess what I want to ask is if you feel pooey (for want of a better word) does anyone else notice that their asthma will be a bit more twitchy and irritatble?
Stress is one of my triggers, but I didn't find my Bi- Polar effects my asthma much at all, which is something I opted to investigate myself.
for me - yep definately. if i am upset, not feeling very good or very tired then my asthma is worse.
Totally Wendy...i got a lesser form of bi-polar and I know if one plays up it stresses me an messes up the other. Can seem like a stupidly frustratin cycle cant it.

oooh yeah Cazzy, My BPD goes off at some of the most in-opportune times, even resulted in me having a major scream, shout and threaten of everyone at college.
Do you find Pred makes it worse as well? Its not been as bad since I was put on Seroquel, but before then, if it was bad, I was vicious at times.

I've been lucky in that i've only had to have preds once an I slept most the time I was that ill so i couldn't have noticed!! Lol. I just get sick of everyone usin my mental health as a get out clause when they cant be bothered to work out what is wrong really.
I hate that! I got that for so long that I was left to deteriorate dramatically by my old GP and Consultant. It wasn't until I saw a different GP after what would have been my 30th A & E trip in a year, that I was properly investigated. I guess the best advice I can give is to keep going and don't be afraid to ask for a 2nd opinion

i spoke to someone recently who believed that sciatica was caused by emotional difficulty.
The link is through the effect of these difficulties on your posture (my own thoughts) but the linkage to health and how you think has to be enourmous.
I come from a long-suffering bi-polarfamily. I would describe learning the buteyko method quite accurately as ""upgrading to a new body - but one that works properly this time"".
If you control your breathing you can eliminate thoughts from your mind. The Eckardt Tolle concept of mindfulness is a great tool. If you focus on your breathing, calming it and reducing it you reduce your stress and by controlling your stress you can keep your symptoms from controlling you... Mindfulness is like meditation...clear your mind of negative thoughts, ask yourself where is your focus and bring it back to your breathing. This can work for you at almost all levels of stress, distress and disabilty through asthma and many other conditions.
Our breathing is overlooked by practically all and sundry....there appears to be a belief that asthma cannot be anything to do with our breathing.....amazing, hard to imagine but true at too many levels.
The holistic link to other conditions etc (well known link of breathing rate/volume/nasal v mouth to stress, anxiety/depression and similarly to IBS and similarly to asthma). By changing your breathing pattern safely and subtly you may experience relief in many other areas....i did.
Yeah always best to keep askin huh?! I'm very lucky with my asthma i think, its not too bad at all. Just need to learn to understand it better when it is playing up.
Yeah, as irritating as keeping on pestering can be. It worked in the end and I am now getting better and a lot more comfortable.
Today, after a nice sing-song... hoooo boy that was... interesting...
