I have been on this now for just over 8 weeks but only on 200mg 2 x day. Do they still need to do blood tests to check levels or is that only necessary on a higher dose.

you should still have levels done to see if you are in the therapeutic range (ie the range in which it works). People are really variable in how much they need cos they absorb and get rid of it at different rates
Are you getting benefit from the dose you are currently on? I saw my resp nurse yesterday and she has increased one of my doses as I am still struggling and my level is at the lower end of normal therapeutic levels.
