I have heard, apparently, that the British Army I think ( though the soldiers won't admit it! LOL) , use Avon cream!!!
Also, any repellant, the cream variety that has Citronella ( Citridol) in is good too and not evil like DEET!
Also eating marmite helps repel them! ( they hate it! LOL)
Not tried plug ins!
I last used US Army DEET on Ascension Island and mossies munched severely my left arm!
(DEET will rot through Swatch and any other plastic watches)
At least with mozzies they are bigger than the infamous Scottish midge, which despite it size, swarms densly in millions - had more probs from them than mozzies.

Plug in repellants and any other sort of ‘air freshener’ either plug in or spray –aaaaagh! - always create big breathing probs for me. The propellants used are probably the worse culprits
I’m actually quite lucky because I don’t seem to act like a magnet re bitey insects and mozzies. Can remember times when on holiday in Greece, India and Scotland and was woken up during the night by the sound of the post bitey attack of the mozzie/midge buzzing off, -it’s always too late when you hear that sound ! - I just rolled over safe in the knowledge that I hadn’t been bitten. Other half wasn’t quite so lucky. Think his blood must have tasted so much sweeter!
Tea tree and citronella oil are standard well known anti mozzie repellants. I’ve noticed that both ‘smells’ don’t seem to provoke any breathing probs. Eating lots of garlicky food helps as does eating curries. Seems to repel most insects not to mention nearest and dearest if you don’t all eat the same food!
Good luck with the mozzies and the holiday Jill. Hot dry air is good for lungs.
