Just wondering if anyone has used this antibiotic , and had there asthma improve abit, going back abit i was on it for a urine infection before being diagnosed with diabetes , it did the job quickly , but i also felt an improvement in my breathing, has anyone found this to be the case for them??Gaz

Hi mrgee,

I have had it but i discovered i had a stomach intolerance to it and my stomach swelled to balloon size.

Hi Gaz, I've used it too but find amoxicillin helps my asthma and has been even better since been on augmentin 625mg for last month.Weird as it's not why i was given it!Was on nebuliser every 4 hours before this and now cut meds down to minimum!

Some antibiotics have an anti imflammatory (reduce swelling) properties on top of the antibiotic role . As such t ur asthma may improve as the inflammation in the lung reduces. Can't remember wot ones have this .

Hey, azithromycin is the antibiotic that has recently been discovered to help asthmatics whith chest infections, and i think there's been some research on it's use in viral infections, however don't quote me on the latter. You could always ask your GP for this next time you have an infection, to see if this would help.
