when i go abroad on holiday i find that my asthma really plays up and gets really bad that i have to take steriod tablets with me aswell as my other asthma treatments.

Hugs to poor you. I've never holidayed abroad but wish you the best.
We always go right on the coast the sea air seems to help also we go in May before it gets too and busy. Also we try not to be in a big town/city. I know it sounds like a lot of hasle but so far no major problems.
