I am off to se my Cons next week but just wondering about my PF ...
For the last 4 months no matter what meds I take I cannot get my PF above 80% and at worst (other than when having attacks) it is only65%ish...
My chest pretty much hurts all of the time...even if I don't feel overly wheezy...I am shattered...exhasuted really....
Anyone else know if this is a usual scenario and I shouldn't be that concerned? I am worried my Cons is going to wonder why I am bothering wasting his time...
Do most of you have your asthma udner control when on your meds and get better PF's than 80%???

Peak flow readings vary from person to person. Whats good for you could be bad for someone else. If your peakflow is lower than normal you should really get yourself checked out by your asthma nurse or GP I dont think this weather is helping alot of asthmatics at the moment so could your asthma be troubled by this lovely weather we are experiencing at the moment. But if your chest is so bad please dont wait till you go see your con get it checked out at your surgery asap Take care xx
Not sure about perventages only go by the reading
When I'm well my PF is usually around 360-400 but since contracting a lung infection at Christmas it has been around the 250 mark. At my asthma review on Friday the best I got was 250 and have just been given a 5 day course of prednisolone as I still can't shake off the infection and have continued to have attacks, but haven't needed A&E since Christmas.
The person doing my review said something about my PF being 58%, but I didn't understand due to dyscalculia.
this scenerio is a very familiar one.
i had a consultant that decided that just cos i didnt wheeze constantly that i wasnt asthmatic and tried to take me off my meds. i think that some cons need better education as to the symptoms of asthma.
Thanks for the replies!
Think I am more worried that I am wasting my Cons time!
My PF is bewteen 65 and 80% basically now for months - I feel awful!
So tired - if I do do anything I am shatered afterwards...to the point I fall asleep...
But I understand that this PF isn't awful - mine can be a lot lower during atacks etc - yet that's short lived - this is sort of permanent now!!!
