hope your all doing ok. Im starting my anti asthma trigger mission. so far started shopping for a digital peak flow (will get one from a prescription though!) I've started shopping for an ioniser online found a really good one on amazon but wondered if anyone here has them. Have you found any change in using one?
I am sort of undecided as i cant protect myself when i leave my house! But think i may get a ioniser to use overnight. Im changing everything - even ordered a new bed with a matress with no animal hairs or allergens in it.
Hi we thought of doing this, but were worried when we leave the house, the allergens outside would overwhelm us and we would be far worse off.I used to visit a friend who had a cat, I would have a little bit of a reaction as I'm allergic to cats but very mild. When my friend died I no longer came in to contact with cats, 3 months later I went round someones house who had a cat and ended up in A+E.My Son used to react to cold air so one night we kept the heating on all night,he had severe attack as soon as we left the house. I just wondered if it would be the same principle.
HI
i have ioniser in every room of my house. They make a a geat big difference, you have a point that you might get an ""overload"" when you go out, but I find they make a great big difference to me, and gives my lungs a bit of a rest too. My allergies are no the extreme side, so with all the medication I take, they are helpful. I would reccommend them for any with allergies. Well worth the money.

Sorry to put a damp er on the positive but my feelings towards ionisers are totally negative.
I am a brittle asthmitc with multiple allergies, after being suggested an ioniser i bought one and now wish i didnt, i found it was a total dust magnet and when i entered the room it was in my airways immeadiatly reacted and triggered an attack(thankfully reasonably minor for me).
I tried it in my asthmatic daughters room and it didnt help her either.
Are you able to remove all carpet as i found that helped us alotaslaminte is alot easier to clean thouroughly
I didn't find ionisers any use either! They just atracted muck around themtoo!
Air purifiers - Unless you want to live ina bubble. Plus as mentioned previously, you can't avoid the wide world outside.
Regular cleaning of house - vaccuuming & wet mopping floors if hard, replace all carpet with wood / lino.
Dust mite battle plan - proper fitted breatheable covers for all bedding, replace pillows often, dust mite spray. don't make the bed, leave all thrown back to air bed during day - mites don't like sunlight, plus moisture that is on sheets in AM will evaporate leaving less for mites to live in.
Wash on hot wash...the sheets, not the mites.
Vaccuum bed and curtains - get washable curtains.
This will make the air in bedroom so much better and less need for a purifier.
There was a thread somewhere back in time about air purifiers.
