hi cathy,

i'm afraid i have only bad news! slo-phyllin does cause sickness in a lot of people (including me, when i was on it). its often worse at the beginning, and then settles down, but it can take two weeks for your body to get used to it, and even then many people are left with an underlying queasiness, which isn't much fun.

do keep at it, because hopefully it will get better, and for some people its a 'miracle' asthma drug, so its worth a try.

while you are feeling ill, my top 3 non-drug ways to help the sickness:

1: 'sea bands' the travel sickness bands with pressure buttons on them. i wore these alot, and you can use them while sleeping, which helps.

2: orange juice - don't know why, but it helped me

3: ginger biscuits (or anything gingery) according to a sailor friend of mine, there's something in ginger that settles the stomach, and it certainly worked for the slo-phyllin sickness, and when i've been caught in gales in a very small yacht!!

i think you can also take normal sea-sickness tablets, but i'm not sure about these.

hope you get some relief soon

Something else worth knowing , caffeine can increase the side effects so dont do like me and drink coke to try and get rid of the nausea. Chocloate, coffee etc can make the symptoms worse so to begin with whilst you are getting use to them it is worth staying away from them.

hi cathy

dont actually take this tablet myself but believe its similar to uniphyllin which i'm on (someone correct me if i'm wrong) as speedy and justy have said it takes a while to get use to. with the tablets i'm on i started on a lower dose a increased it over a few weeks. maybe this is possible with syphollin might be worth askin your gp.

hope you have a good holiday

welcome to the boards by the way

scampy

im on it

Im on 1000mg daily and at first i suffered severe migraines and sickness, but i would suggest stick with it because they do go away, slowly but since iv been on it my asthma has got much betta and i still get headaches sometimes but ill rather have that then being in hospital all the time.

hope everything gets betta.
