I have a spirometry test later this week, just wondered how long does it take, what should I expect and what results will i get?
I can't get a babysitter to look after my 2 and 3.5 year old and wondered if I should postpone for another time when I have childcare?

When I have spirometry done it usually takes no longer than 10 minutes. You blow down a tube that looks a bit like an elephants trunk a few times. Sometimes they put a clip on your nose to stop the air escaping out of your nose. The only thing that ever put me off taking my kids was the long waiting times that sometimes occur. If you have an appointment with a doctor after your tests ask them what your results show.
Thanks erasmus, 10mins isn't too bad, I'm sure the kids'll be ok for that amount of time. Fortunately the docs have toys in the waiting room to occupy them if the appointments are running late too!
I'm loathed to put the appointment off as I've been waiting a long time for this appointment and I'm still waiting for a diagnosis so I'm keen to get seen soon.
