Hi I've just been diagnosed with another chest infection and put on antibiotics and pred (30).
I've had both before but this time I've felt very woozy and drained of all energy since taking them and clammy - having hot flushes and just not feeling right. My lungs aren't being too bad at the moment, and I will go to A&E if I am at all worried. I just wanted to know if people often have funny symptoms?
Oh and also, I saw an AWESOME doctor today. Unfortunatley she's a locum but she was brilliant, anything she wasn't sure about she looked up so I could get the highest/best treatment possible and she gave me a mini review and listened to everything I said, including that I often don't wheeze! What a difference!!!
I tend to feel quite 'high' and dizzy when on pred - bit like the shaky feeling you get with too much salbutamol... I don't know if that's what you mean. Also if you're struggling to breathe then you probably will feel drained of energy.
I hope you feel better soon, and as you say, go to A&E if you're worried x
i get the hot flushes and the cramps - although i think the cramps are more to do with the heavy salbutamol / lowered potassium issue.
and well done for finding a decent gp, even if it was just a locum! put a positive comment in - you never know, they could be there for longer, esp if patient feedback is good.
Hi Zippi,
I've had similar feelings to what you describe - feeling totally drained, clammy and woozy with a chest infection before. Those feelings started to settle after a couple of days on antibiotics, but it was pretty nasty while it lasted. I hope you feel better soon!
