Just currious but how do you know how to clasify you asthma? Does the dr label it? Consultant says allergic but a&e says brittle????

Personally i would say go with what your consultant says because he is trained in respiratory. A and E staff are only there to treat the accident or urgent one off so to speak problem and only give short term diagnosises rather than the long term ones. They should not be expected to know long term.
Or even try and diagnose long term. They should pin point you back to your GP who can then pass you on to a specialist in that area if it causes persistant problems.
