Watched the women's marathon while on holiday.

Don’t forget that Paula Radcliffe still holds the women’s marathon world record – London Marathon 2003, time, 2:15:25, -despite suffering from asthma.

Women marathon runners (unlike men) peak at a later age…

(…Hmmm, think many women could identify with a later time one way or the other…)

Anyway marathon runners such as Joan Benoit Samuelson, Ingrid Kristianson and Rosa Mota were my absolute role models in many years gone by not only for their marathon athletic achievements but also for the health problems some of them had to overcome, including asthma, when competing at both a younger and later age.

Romania’s Tomescu-Dita won Beijing Olympic gold aged 38 (veteran woman) despite many previous race setbacks.

Paula’s Olympic time will come in London 2012, on home confident world record clean air territory where she WILL win gold.
