I was told I had aspergers seven years ago though apparently I was diagnosed 21 years ago when I was in college. This is the first time Ive come across this site though and I'm wondering if there are other sufferers here?

I only got a formal diagnosis this year (after about 5 years trying) and try not to suffer too much.
There is a book called 'Congratulations, its Aspergers' (although I haven't read it).
Whilst we seem to live in a world that is only just starting to embrace diversity including neurodiversity, I think plenty of people struggle with a lot of it even without e.g. Asperger's.
I'm glad to say that working as a counsellor I find clients feel my close attention to detail and "phenomenal" long term memory (e.g. of things they have told me) very helpful to them.
But i know I drive my girlfriend to her wits end at times.
When I was at school no one ever considered I could be dyslexic because i won creative writing prizes. (although i do remember in my first lessons on 'comprehension' I wondered how people had worked out certain things from the information given).
at senior school everyone just thought i was 'on drugs'.
