Hi everyone.

Can anyone tell me if their hip arthritis has caused them to have very swollen knees along with tight painful legs.

Thanks.

You don’t have a reply from a sufferer with your symptoms ( I don’t, I’m thankful to say) so I’m just suggesting you contact one of the arthritis charities. Just google ‘arthritis charity’ and choose the one that seems most appropriate.

No I have had two hip replacements but have not had swollen knees. I do have PRP injections into one of my knees though.

I had very a very badly swollen knee on the same side as my bad hip and thought it was arthritis. Once I had my hip replacement it gradually went. So not arthritis, just a side effect.

Hey there. I’ve got arthritis in both hips, and yes, it definitely impacts my flexibility and mobility, and it messes with my knees, too. I’ve found that if I’m in any position for too long, everything hurts when I try to move, so I’ve built in little movement breaks throughout my day to help loosen things up. Nothing super hardcore, just pacing back and forth, or some leg swings, stuff like that. I’ve also used compression sleeves for my knees, which helps with support.

Side note: I guess it’s assumed that I would realize how much my hip arthritis would affect my entire body, but I wish when I got diagnosed my doc had said, “Oh BTW, this will affect everything from your back to your toes, so be prepared.”

No idea have got swollen painful knees that are drivng me mad at present.

Had both hips replaced in last 18 months so not likely to be the cause.

I just know my knees are the result of OA and flare up from time to time, just wish

I could pin down the cause.

Have you has any checks as to the cause?
