Should you play chelo with arthritis because I have it in my fingers

I do not play cello but do play and teach piano. My GP is trying to keep pain in my arthritic hands under control, however his advice is to keep playing tohelp fingers from seeing up. Hope this helps.

YES! Perhaps you could try hot wax baths for your hands, does wonders for mine.

I was told to continue to use all joints as long as the pain is not bad as using them produces the lubrication needed for the joints. Worse thing you can do is not to use them at all.

Yes. Exercise will keep everything working. If unsure seek advice but playing is also good for the soul. I say that as an ill musician myself. I play big wind (clarinet, bass clarinet and baritone sax) and despite many issues have tried to play for as long as possible in military bands. Im unable to do this now so im learning tuba to go into a local brass band so I can still do something. Play what you can and when you can.
