Hi all,

I am a 24 year old male, I had a echocardiogram b/c I have incomplete right bundle branch block. It is a delay in the conduction of my heart. I was seeing the cardiologist b/c of palpitations & he said everything checked out okay.

My question is - the normal EF ratio is 55% to 70%

And mine is only 57%

Is it bad that its on the low end? Is 57% optimal?

I feel like it is very close to border line decreased function?

Anyway, thanks everyone

Hi

I’m not an expert in what is normal for a 24 y.o. guy, but if you consider yourself to be otherwise fit and healthy and you follow a healthy lifestyle then perhaps 57 is on the low side. As I think you know, above 55 is considered to be OK. Has your cardiologist said that your RBBB could compromise your EF?

Palpitations in themselves are not harmful other than any psychological stress they cause you. Do you have any other symptoms? If not, perhaps a watching brief is all that is required.

Take care.

My bmi is 22 - I am very active.

Workout 4 days a week at least & do cardio.

The doctor didn’t say if the irbbb could impact my EF.

They have performed a sonar of the heart & a 2 week halter monitor & stress test. All have come back ok.

Whats watching brief?

Watching brief: maintain surveillance; keep a lookout for deterioration.

I think you’ll be fine as long as you don’t push your body too hard.
