I assume that you are fully aware of the effects and side effects of .amiodarone.

As long as you are fully aware and informed it is your decision but you need to discuss this seriously with your doctor or cardiologist.

I was on 200mg / day for 3 months (no pre-load) but I had no side effects. It stopped my arrhythmia but it came back when I stopped the amiodarone. I would want to be sure of regular checks on thyroid and liver if I were to remain on it, but I was not comfortable in doing that myself. I opted for a Pace & ablate.

I have been on amiodarone doe nearly one year with no noticeable side effects. The doctors do conduct liver as well as lung scans regularly as a precaution. This is the second time being on amiodarone for me. The first time I was on it was maybe almost 2 years ago and I had side effects of being quite jumpy. This second time the experience has been different and I tolerate it better. Good luck to your good self and please make sure that you have regular blood liver tests and chest xrays to check your lungs.

I have been taking Amiodarone since mid February, terrible side effects the

1st few days including a terrible skin rash, unfortunately it’s a very toxic drug but I am convinced it helped me to have a successful cardioversion in 2016 after taking it for about 4 months prior to my C/V and I remained in NSR for over 3 years. I am waiting to have another C/V soon and whether it is a success or not I will be stopping Amiodrone as I don’t want to be on it long term, for me personally I think 4/5 months is long enough to be taking this drug.

All the best.
