Through my psychiatrist I attended a meeting yesterday in the south east of England to give a 'service users' perspective, there was some good news shared, the uk have been funded to create four new MBU's and one of those will be in the south coast area along with funding for a few perinatal mental health teams in the area too, I know it doesn't sound like much but it's a start! Things look better for future sufferers of this horrid illness. I also heard one of the MBU's will be in Cardiff- about time Wales got an MBU!!!

I was at a meeting in the south east too, I presume it was the same one?! Yes it's wonderful to hear great news about new mbu and expanded perinatal team, including in West sussex where I live where currently there isn't anything!
Hi Ellie, great to hear about your service user meeting. Lots of exciting things happening. I've not heard about an MBU opening in Cardiff. Just wondered if this is definite? I'm going to a meeting in Cardiff soon to voice my lived experience with others to show the crucial need for MBUs in Wales. North Wales is very poor for perinatal mental health services and really hope women and families all over Wales will have access to a local MBU. I will keep you posted about the meeting. Hope you're ok, Sarah xx
...and how about Somerset??? Is there one in Bristol, now??? MBU?
Hi all I'm going to try and find out where the new mbu's are, including Wales and write on here. I know there are four funded from NHS England which won't include Wales obviously. The only location I know about is the south east.
