Just recently joined. I've suffered from pretty debilitating chronic pain for almost 13 years now. Coming up on the anniversary of my accident. Never an easy day on the calendar.
I wouldn't say I have the energy to be desperate anymore, but I've tried everything. Two surgeries, the first of which really destroyed me, making the pain exponentially worse, I had a second surgery a few years later to take the metal out in the hopes it would improve things, but... not so much.
After that I've spent time in two pain clinics, again, with not much help.
I've tried acupuncture, physical therapy, manual therapy, yoga, injections, every pain medication in the book, vitamins. I don't really know what else there is to do... I guess mostly I'm having trouble with energy. I just feel drained all the time and can get pretty frustrated and angry with the situation.
I don't want to sound so completely hopeless, and for the most part, I think I could put up with the pain better, as awful as it is, if I had more energy. I can typically motivate myself to do things, and I know it's not helpful to catastrophize my situation.
If anyone can offer any insight at all in how to deal with energy, be it a vitamin supplement or anything like that that can help with energy. I'd be all ears and eternally grateful.
But there's so much I don't understand about this condition. It's lonely having this pain. And of all the people I've met, no one really seems to understand, and I am less and less enthusiastic about trying to explain it to people. I don't know what to say to them, and I get angry when they don't understand or seem sympathetic enough. I feel like I've become something unnatural. Like those Japanese holdouts left to defend islands on the pacific and they keep fighting even though the war has long since ended.
