Maybe for you it was no big deal, but for many they were seriously ill, or worse. Very serious for those of us with compromised immune systems.

Bethel bee,

Absolutely. I just came from my doctor’s office where I was the only person wearing a mask. For those of us who are high risk/immunocompromised, the world is a frightening and very limited place.

And, for people over 65 with other health issues. Had Covid last Oct., and played havoc with my Diabetes.

Hope you're ok now! I am over 65 and diabetic and very fortunate to have not gotten Covid .

It took a few Months to get my Blood Sugars better --My A1C is still not good; but, it was A lot worse during & after Covid. Hoping & praying not to get Covid, or any other infection.

We need an overseer that will look for all the people that are seeking support and are going unanswered and reply to them!

I appreciate the solidarity and validation this site offers, but I’d like to see more links or references to science-based resources and information. It’s exhausting to be depressed and can be impossible to keep up with the reputable research and recommendations.

gbn_ profile image
gbn_β€’ in reply toSoporRose

Very true. It is frustrating, I'm constantly looking for more information to try to find out just what could work or not whether it is anything natural or medical prescription.

LifeIsThePitts profile image
LifeIsThePittsβ€’ in reply toSoporRose

YES! I try to post scientific research and pertinent information about overcoming our shared conditions. Depression and Anxiety are masters of deceit and we're the victims if we can't identify what's the voice of our diseases beating us up in our own minds and the voice of our true inner self being drowned out by the noise of our screaming egos. We've become so accustomed to self sabatage and self abuse at the hands of our disorders that eventually we don't know how to discern between the two. We become ONE with our disease without realizing it.

I know how hard it is to motivate ourselves to do anything when all our energy is going to surviving another day, or hour, or MINUTE. Some days there's nothing left to "give". That's why I share the research I've read and learned that can be helpful for all of us.

As Jenny outs, "Depression lies."

Sharing your research and resources if a great service. Thank you! Do you have a thread dedicated to what you (and others?) find out?

I think you can get as much as you want out of this site based on your needs. The site has become pretty heavy with foot traffic though and it’s hard to keep up at times for those who are in need. I think the intent is to come for help but to also help in return if able. I use another site called stuff that works.health and there are a lot more science based insights collected by patients and then organized through some type of algorithm. I use this site for all of my medical conditions. It is particularly useful to have consolidated data about treatment plans and other data points about various conditions. It has less back and forth, but still has a forum and PM feature too. I was able to find one person who shares two of the same physical diseases and that has helped tremendously.

Both sites work for me, they are just a bit different with intent. They complement each other nicely.

I am also on both HU and Stuff That Works. There are certainly differences.

I'm here everyday too🀭I pop in and out all day at work. This has been a great therapy tool for me to learn about myself through other's experiences. I'm fighting off a summer cold this week and feel blah 🀒 but tomorrow is my Friday and I'm looking forward to a couple days of rest. My hubby is getting MRI results for his shoulder on Wednesday. We're planning for surgery coming up soon. Just gotta get the results and details.

I am not depressed, my daughter suffers from Bi Polar, she won't let me have any contact. I live too far to go and visit, but when I could she did not open the door. My grandaughter is now 22 and I might get a message once a year from her. My brother had occasion to go to her door to give her a cheque from my deceased mum. He told me she opened the door a crack, did not say much, took the cheque, but so far has not cashed it. I have not spoken to her in 11 years, I hoped things would be better by now. My daughter has been ill since her 20's. I presume she is not even going to see a Doctor as she is no better. All I can do is hope before I die, I am 74 she will call me. Any advice please.

By sharing experiences and what we have learned we can help each other along the road to respite and recovery. But must always remember we are not healthcare professionals and any advice and suggestions given are secondary to the care received from GPs and other consultants.

Thank you so much for this forum

hi lisette I didn’t see the survey to vote. But I’m so glad I found this group. Maybe God led me here. You sure will be blessed for putting it together.

I really need some support right now. Struggling! It helps me to read others stories that make mine seem less tragic. I know pain is pain ,

The fact that groups are active and people are interactive in a kind way. Sometimes i just need to know someone is there, and listening.
