Hi, I’ve had 2 DVTs, no swelling, redness or heat. My leg just bruised when I was putting lotion on after a shower. My mother had had one also, but her leg swelled the size of thigh overnight, out of the blue, so I was concerned. I went to ER, told them my concerns and said I wanted an ultra sound..,which they did and I was right. Happened again in the other leg, but after a surgery…I now take Warfarin for life. You know what’s normal for you, listen to your body…be safe!

Well done. Out of interest, why are you on warfarin in lieu of the oral anticoagulants that do not require monitoring?

When I was in a and e when I had blood clots in my lungs back in 2017 the doctors had said to me for treatment there were the injections, warfarin or the doacs that were available to me and I had chosen the doacs as they are easy to use and you aren't chained to anticoagulant clinics like you are with warfarin and I said to the doctors how I was too young to be chained to warfarin clinics and wanted to live my life so doacs it was and I get along great with them!

With doacs you have a blood test once or twice a year which I find acceptable!
