Absolutely normal! We all suffer from it.
Yes I was the same after I had a PE back in 2017.
how are you all coping with panic attacks they are scary ☹️
I take Effexor for my panic attacks. Been taking it for over 12 years and it is one of my favorite meds since I have not had one panic attacks in over 12 years now. They were horrible and very frightening for me. You truly feel as if you are dying because me, I could not breath or catch a breath during my attacks. That is a horrible feeling. The Effexor saves me from those episodes.
prayer, deep breathing and knowing you're on medication helps. I suffered horribly from anxiety after, mine were 2 yrs ago. I'm on long term anticoagulants. Focus on the things you have control over.. let go of the rest. It gets better.
HI Juli,
I am sure the rational part of you already knows that you are on the mend. I am on lifelong apixaban after an unprovoked and very frightening PE and have been told these will prevent another PE. You have had a big scare but you will get better.
But emotions are not the same as facts. And it can be tricky to turn off feelings of panic at 3am. There are lots of relaxation tools and techniques that can help. Many of them are focused on sleep time but can also help in switching off day time worries. There is a new podcast called sleep well by Dr Michael Mosely on BBC sounds I have found useful and also an app called Sleepio contains some great techniques to deal with worrying thoughts. More broadly I think that a Mindfulness course could be a big help.
I wish you all the best, hope that one or more of these are of some use
Hi, really hope you get on ok I can’t remember having any panic attacks I’m on Warfarin for life. Take Care
It may help to know that many, many people are on this type of medication for years with no further episodes of blood clotting. My friend has been on Warfarin for over 20 years with no reccurance - 92 years old now and still no problems. My husband has been on for 4 years with no reccurance. Best wishes for your full recovery.
