There are other, more modern anticoagulants, but you must ask your doctor about them.
I've been on warfarin now for 13 years because of Leiden Factor 5. I recently did a ton of research into the new anticoagulants and decided to remain on warfarin because I feel the new one's havn't been tested long enough. Also, if a major bleed does occur, there is no clotting medication whereas with warfarin, vitamin K is the clotting agent used to stop bleeding. I keep myself informed of any new, tried-and-tested anticoagulant. None, so far.
As your valve is metal your only option is warfarin.perhaps in the future there will be other options but not now
Yours drew
