Husband 50 and memory really bad

I have eventually persuaded my husband to talk to his Dr about his bad memory. Dr has agreed to do a card test, whatever that is. I am so worried, for the last 10 years his father has been unwell with Cadasil, he has 24 hour care for last 5 years, at home. My husband has been distant and depressed and his short term memory is so bad. I lost my Dad in 2012 with Dementia and had been his carer for many years, I'm not sure I can go through it all again with my husband, especially him being so young. I'm so low and thinking the worse, my glass is always half empty but now it's feeling broken.

Welcome to the community.

As you likely know, Cadasil is an inherited condition. Has a genetic risk test been performed for your husband? This will be important to know for his doctor, in addition to cognitive testing.

No, we went through the counselling about 10 years ago and decided not to have it done. It just felt like the best thing at the time

Has he seen a psychiatrist? Or been tried on an antidepressant?
