Memory Walk 2017

So in 4 weeks all I will be participating in the 2017 Memory walk. This is close to my heart as my father is living with vascular dementia. Whilst he has been in the care home we have watched a number of residents deteriorate via this disease and had to say goodbye to the gent in the room across the way from my dad. My dad himself has deteriorated majorly to a point he is incompetent to feed himself, express feelings etc. Last year he had pneumonia and we were told by the hospital we will not arrive by the time he passes. However the following day staff looked confused when looking at us and I was a bit scared only to walk in to the room he is sat up larger than life shouting/swearing etc he had gotten delirium whilst comatose. However almost a year on he is still chatty and noisy but currently poorly with I.B.S. he has also been in and out of hospital with low bp over the last year too. So here is my walk this year

I'm glad you will be participating in the Memory Walk. My mother had Alzheimer's and her sister had vascular dementia. Her sister lived to 92 and was angry most of the time. I am 86 and pray that I never get either disease.

Its awful watching my father live with it. From a hard working gentle giant to a frail angry (tourette language)person. sleeping loads but still eating and drinking well. incoherent chat at times but holds a good conversation despite how random
