This is generally only done if there is a history of ALD in the family. I am not aware of any effort to include it in the panel since quite a few states are now screening newborns.

I know it was added to Counsyl a common genetic screening panel offered to women ( for a variety a reasons-in my case Bc I was over age 35) after I had my son. That was performed in the first trimester. That’s just one example
