I am happy to share that North Carolina is following several other states by screening all diseases that have been added to the RUSP (Recommended Uniform Screening Panel) as defined by the Department of Health which includes ALD.
States that are now screening are New York, Connecticut, California, Washington, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Florida and Tennessee. A handful of other states have either passed legislation, but have yet to implement the screening, or are mobilizing to do so.
This is by far beyond anything I could have imagined when Sawyer was diagnosed in 2003 and I started Fight ALD in 2004. People CAN move mountains, one stone at a time. Thank you everyone who's had a hand in this movement.
