Hi there, well I assume ur doc is gradually increasing dosage? Since using neurotin ( gabapentin) I have gone from size 8 to a size 12 in one yr!!!! Any benefit of it has been spoilt by my weight gain. So now my body is working so much harder to carry extra weight. I have now reduced my dose to 300mg twice a day. Can I ask how long uve had ur condition.?

Thanks. Nice to talk to someone that has the illness.

Take care.

I knew it was the gabapentin but not completely. Thank you for responding.

what does it do for you apart from putting on weight?

dont you think that taking it actually creates more problems for fibro as we now have to carry more weight. Ive taken myself off it to just 300mg twice a day but may come off it completely. May I ask what meds you are on?

Thanks alot

Zoe

Im sorry to hear that. All that medicine. I know hoe it feels. I wont list all my meds but I do take 2 types of morphine and tramadol plus others.

Its weird isnt it having to need more sleep then get insomnia. People struggle to understand it.

I noticed that u didnt mention slow release medication , u have heard about that?.

I have another condition called angioedema. Which I think comes under the umbrella of fms but docs over here dont link them.

I do feel like I'll never find a man that will accept me and love me with all my limitations. May sound silly to others. Its mostly women that get fibro apparently.

Anyway sorry for late reply im struggling to work out website and where I reply etc ....def the fibro fog!!! Lol, cant always use that as an excuse.

Hope ur well

Zoe.

Hello Hamilton2,

I have Fibro, and personally couldn't get on with Gabapentin. However I changed to Pregabalin which helps with nerve pain & now I take 300mg BD after increasing it over a period of time as advised by the GP.We are all individuals and what suits some doesn't suit another as you may know. I take Pregabalin, Duloxetine, Pramiprexole, Tramadol, B12, Folic Acid & Vitamin D.

Have you had any recent bloods at all? Many with Fibro have low Vitamin D, B12 and/or have problems with their Thyroid.

Look forward to hearing from you

Emma :)

Hi Emma, sorry for a late reply. Am still finding my way around this site.

Bloods etc....been round the hospitals different specialists bloods tested so often.

Now I've had FMS and CFS since 2003 so ive done my way round the hospitals so many times. Lol.

U know how it is.

Looking at ur med list made me wonder if u have ever tried slow release meds?.

Anyway hope ur as wel as possible

Hi I am a new member..I have FMS was diagnosed 4 years ago..was on Amitriptyline , but had to come off it as it was effecting my heart rythem, I have tried a few antidepressants..and finally got one that suits me which is Duloxitine, I have tried Gabapentin and it didn't suit me..I now also take Lyrica and Olanzapine for sleep..my sleep is so bad, my brain doesn't want to work or shut down lol..but I find these brilliant so far. My thighs, hips and Hamstrings... and worst of all my butt cheeks..gee they kill me I cant sit for long..the pain is so bad. Does any know if sciatica is a part of Fibro as I have this too in both sides...my thights and hips stiffen and cramp up after walking..i find stretching helps a bit but not a lot...seems like nothing so far helps them muscles..does any one else suffer on that part of body

Hi, it's been similar for me, I've just been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis in my spine. If I hadn't insisted that the Dr send me to a neurologist and rheumatologist I would be no further forward in what is causing my pain. I too have been on all sorts of drugs and they barley take the edge off my pain. My dr are now giving my SNRI to see if the will help. look up a drug called savella (mulnacipran) studies in Europe have shown in most cases of fibromyalgia to relieve pain and in addition, people have less side effects. Hope this helps...

Hi, I put on weight with this drug so the gave me pregabalin and its did the same. In addition, I noticed no difference in my pain so been on amitriptyline fro the last few years.

I used it last year!! No thanks!! its an anti epileptic drug that is said to combat pain, BUT you are not warned of the side effects.. Totally unable to function, to think, I persevered for 6 weeks and it didn,.t lift.. my mouth is torn to shreads, my tongue has lost its soft tissue and dentist says she cant fix it so I have a raw tongue and cannot drink hot drinks, cannot eat harsh food like toast, I have a horrible taste all the time and my ower gum has receeded under a tooth... Hope I havn,t scared you, is this what you are experiencing?
