hi, was wondering if anyone is taking Bisoprolol 5mg, wondering how you are getting on with them
is anyone taking Bisoprolol 5mg, - Atrial Fibrillati...
is anyone taking Bisoprolol 5mg,
Hello Hearty, following seeing Cardiologist last December he decided to put me on Bisoprolol 1.25mg per day this to run alongside Aamiodarone 100mg per day. Phew what difference that made - heart rate slowed down to 30 BPM.! Went to see surgery nurse immediately she did an ECG she was so shocked the slowness oh it. So GP was in touch with Cardiologist and thankfully he said to come off Bisoprolol - all back to normal (for the want of a better word). Hope comments help.

Hi I am only on Bisoprolol 5mg but found that was making heart fluttering worse, so i cut them in half so only take 2.5mg and that helps, told the doctor and he was fine with that, i still get days where it flutters on and off, but most of the time its fine, they were thinking to do Ablation surgery but have put that on hold as its not serious enough apparently
I was put on 10mg Bisoprolol 6 years ago when A/F was first diagnosed. Slowed my heart rate down to about 45. Now, after 3 ablation ops, I'm on 5mg and this too has continued to slow my heart rate to 47-50. Apart from feeling a bit tired, there don't seem to be any other side effects. My A/F seems to have been cured (after the 3rd op!) so i'm hoping to come off much of my medication soon.
Hi Geoff 805 you have had 3 Ablation ops, goodness me why? i did not continue with 5mg Bisoprolol as it made my flutters worse so i cut them down to 2and a half a day, but if the flutters get worse i take another 2 and a half at night giving 12 hours between, this seems to work for me, how bad were your flutters before they did the ablation? Mine tend to be ok for a while then i have a bad week so i take 5mg split into 2 so half in the morning and half at night.
The cardiologist said he didnt feel i needed the surgery yet, but if it got worse they will do something, how bad does it have to get?
The 1st two ops didn't completely work, although things improved. I was referred for ablation as my attacks of paroxysmal A/F were becoming more frequent (about one every two months). The drugs improved the situation after my first instances of A/F, but they were becoming more frequent.
I have not been told what AF i have, i may have this horrible fluttering and missed heart beat 2 or 3 times a week, although i dont feel dizzy and am not out of breath or anything like some of the things i am reading, its still uncomfortable and frightening too, but the cardiologist said that as my heart goes back into rythm within a couple of seconds then its ok, quite worrying
Has any one been cured of AF .Taking bisoprolol for many years got down to 2.5 mg but still I knew it was having a really awful effect so stopped. In the past been rushed into ae with heartbeat of 29 had to stay 2 days. That was another med was being tried, I was alergic to that one which I tried for 7 days. My GP is trying Terazosin now I do hope it works and brings my bp down and helps stop the AF
Oh dear, yes i have been on 3 different types and luckily this one has been fine , heart beat is 65-68 a minute blood pressure 122/77 which is better than it has been, its an awful thing to have, really ruined my social life and other things as well, too scared too do anything for fear it will start it off

I was prescibed bisoprolol 5 years again when I went into AF my dosage is 10mg. I have had no problems taking it. I have had 3 shock treatments and recovered well all though i have been told that It is not curable I am 73 and doing well. I also take wharfin and blood pressure tablets.
I am now wondering hearing all that has answered my question whether i am only a very mild patient of this, as all of you seem to have been through a traumatic time with this, i am only on 2.5mg of Bisoprolol and Aspirin 75mg, my flutters come and go and am told am prone to them, if i drink too much, too much tea, no fizzy drinks.
I have been taking Bisoprolol 10mg now reduced to 7.5mg having had just one cardioversion. now aged 73. also on wafarin and digoxin and statins. Coping relatively well having to watch my diet as have been diagnosed with diabetus. Feel that when first diagnosed with Af diabetus ( type2) was diagnosed quite soon before my Af. Wondering if anybody else has had simular situations as mine. Presently my diabetus is under control with diet and excercise.
