Any help? Whilst taking Dabigatran and on the waiting list for a minor facial op (benign skin cancer) - could this be a problem with Amiodarone ( must not be in the sun for too long - can affect the skin)?

So how long should I be off Dabigatran prior to this proceedure? The skin consultant has suggested 2 days beforehand.

I've had a heart cath and another "very bloody" procedure while taking Dabigatran and as long as I stopped 4 doses (2 days) prior, I was fine. I typically started back up a day after each procedure.

My PCP is talking about putting me Amiodarone for the Afib (and a pacer since my pulse has dropped so low on the beta blockers). Any problem with Amiodarone?

Hi Bruce, Hmm Dabigatran can be very 'bloody'!! Thanks for indicated 2 days prior sounds very healthy (if any of us could state that of ourselves)!!

Amiodarone, when I was first put onto it - the nurse who had done 2 of the Cardioversion indicated to me that there are quite a few major side-effects to it. Watch the skin use sunblockers or will end with a blushing body!! Also the liver and kidney could be affected - GP will monitor this with blood tests. Sorry this is going on and on - have your eyes checked on a regulare basis - crystals can form around them. Wish you well with your change over- no doubt like me you will plod along!
