Pvcs post covid.

Good afternoon you lot,

Hope everyone is well, I’ve had trouble with pvcs since stopping flecainide in March this year, then from July to September they were great until I caught covid last week and since Friday afternoon I’m having Pvcs galore. Will these die down as I start to feel better, I’ve picked a cold up as well which isn’t helping. Thanks in advance

Alex

Covid induced Afib is quite well documented even in those folks who didn’t knowingly have Afib as this article in Nature explains.

I certainly had a 3 day run of Afib in June about 10 days into omy mild Covid experience, after 5 clear years. But as the infection settled, so did my heart.

That’s good to know.

They are not pleasant, so you have my sympathies. I am finding that mine come and go and although I have managed to miss out on catching covid, I have had two really bad colds with no effect on them.

Aches, pains and bad headaches. Cough I only ever feel a bit rough.

Did you do an LFT?

Yes.

Definitely not a cold then. I had a cold a year ago and it didn’t have any effect on ectopics but a flu that I had 2019 seemed to cause a significant increase.

I new it wasn’t a cold as I very rarely get headaches and I got a banging headache, aches and pains all over.

Very interesting to read your post. With one or two exceptions, I have been Afib free since my ablation well over two years ago now (now 78 years old). Occasionally I had PVCs but largely those are short lived. However, I tested positive for Covid two weeks ago, and have been asymtomatic. Except for a series of PVCs (or ectopic beats). They are pretty persistent mainly at night, after mid-night. A couple of times, they morphed into Afib, which I handled with 5-10 minutes of deep breathing. The last 5 days or so, they are mild…but just ‘present’ enough to keep me awake.

Last night, for example, they did not present when I laid on my back, but if I switched to laying on either side, the odd beats started. How irritating, not because of a danger, but because it makes you notice, and it is hard to get back to sleep. And even though I know I shouldn’t get anxious, I am sure at some level anxiety makes it worse. Eventually if I walk around in the middle of the night when this is happening for 10 minutes, it seems to regularize again.

I feel what has perhaps made the situation worse is that we have had a run of bad weather for a week or so, rain, the remnants of the hurricane, cold weather, so I have not been able to get out much and I am usually very active outside.

That is my present situation. Seems to be getting milder, but still irritating. And I feel that worry/anxiety about the whole situation makes things worse.

Anxiety about pvcs sure does ramp them up a notch.

What a great response, hope yours settle soon.

They are gradually getting better. Did not appear at all last night. I think what is also contributing as I did not get much of my regular exercise for the previous three weeks or so, because we were traveling and then the weather was awful. The last two days, I got out, played golf in a very hilly course, got lots of steps in, and now I am beginning to feel ‘normal’ (ie, without the arrhythmia). We will see what happens going forward.

Good to hear, all things pass, that’s what I’m telling myself.

Looks like I spoke too soon…😳😅. Arrhythmia and one hour bout with Afib returned yesterday, probably induced by an exercise walk. Maybe I am trying to do much too soon, may have to ease into things for a while. Taking a note from your post, perhaps let things pass a bit before pushing too hard. Who knows? How are you doing?

The pvcs have been a lot better today thank you. Still there, but nowhere near as frequent, I’ve had a fairly chilled out day today, done no work on the house, just spent the day with a fairly busy three year old 🤣 I hope you’re ok.
