TBH, I don't know, best I can do is to advise to check with the medical practioner who is gonna do the job. I would have thought they should have already advised you anyway.
Hi Ben hall, believe me I have tried to get an answer . Left messages on pain clinic, rheumatology and nurse helpline , no response. L
Helpful eh? Can you ring your cardio nurses?
Surely they know what medication you are on and should have advised you.
Well rheumatology helpline replied « « « we only reply to urgent questions ».
Pain clinic called me! « we don’t know « . No teply from ultra sound .
Any way I am taking up health unlocked with my trivia. Sorry! And, sun is out.
It’s amazing that they haven’t already advised you as they should know what medication you are on - unfortunately not so amazing that you get no answer from them. Keep trying - it’s too late when you get there and they say you can’t have it because you are taking apixaban as happened to me once early on in my AF journey with a procedure. Sure I told them I was taking apixaban maybe they didn’t hear me?
I have had this done lots of time into shoulder, elbow and spine but that was before AF and apixaban. The only time I was due to have this done whilst on apixaban was back in Aug 2018 in my knee and I can’t remember if they told me to stop apixaban for that because it was a total farce. In the end they wouldn’t give me the injection because I had recently (on Jan 2017) had treatment for prostate cancer and then found out that wouldn’t have made any difference whatsoever taking into consideration when and what treatment I had had - I checked with my oncology department as i was so amazed at this as I had had far more invasive procedures and no mention was made of my treatment Again they didn’t say that until I turned up at the hospital for the injection even though they should have seen from my notes and could of course, have contacted me and told me I couldn’t have it and given my appointment to someone else. Never fails to amaze and amuse - well maybe not so amusing really quite frustrating.
I had a steroid injection in my knee last week. My gp said you are on blood thinners arent you. I said yes, didnt seem to be any problems
I'd say no, steroids facilitate clot formation and provoke AF episodes. But I'm not a doctor.
