Joined years ago and deal with off and on Afib but realized something that might help others.
I never went into AF while exercising, shopping, or anywhere out of the house. I noticed that it always occurred early in the evening when I was relaxed while watching telly while reclining a fair bit in my motorized leather love seat, but not when I was lying prone and sleeping? Only lying back at a certain angle. This puzzled me as it does not happen lying down?
I started tracking this on my phone, along with my BP. I always carry my PIP just in case.
This got my attention. I am fairly in good shape physically, so I decided to figure out triggers, things that might be causing it. Less and less Alcohol, till now, NONE at all for the last few months- weaker coffee, and trying to stay stress-free (not easy here lately in the USA with our Felon elect Monarch. *Thought this might be something you all might want to look at in your own life. How are you positioned body wise when you go into AFib? Hope this helps someone.

I have found to be slightly elevated when I sleep on my back helps as well. I think we are all looking for that instant cure...lol. and this really is not a good place for extreme politics.
7I get that totally,if I lie flat ,say on a sunbed by a pool...oh please take me now,in the middle of Grey UK winter... I ran the risk of AF .I'm out of it now after double ablation but I still get wary.
I'm.convinced my gut /stess had a hellova lot to do with my AFib onset.
Briefly,I had a rewarding but high stress job as a Family Learning tutor, riding Warwickshire County on a tight schedule, coupled with 2 sets of parents/parents in law of uncertain health,in two separate towns.
We had an awful situation with a house renovation where builder1 ran off with 12k,next builder had a heart attack on site, next one broke his femur falling off scaffolding ( all adding vastly to finance, and concerned for them )
I put down heart thumping to general stress.
Then calmer times but to answer your question, I tried never to crunch up diaphragm, guaranteed to give it a go if it felt the need.
Also higher pillows than pre AF.
If in AF,sit right up.
Also beware the influence of the orange scary person with a dodgy friend rhyming in dusk not good for anyones health tbh
I've had AF for almost 20 years and it could start in any position, walking, lying down, sat or swimming. What I would say however is that I believe restrictive clothing around the torso could be a trigger, or sitting slouched with your stomach compressed. Another major trigger for me would be walking soon after eating a meal, the more I ate the worse I would feel.Jean
Iam glad you said that Af can be triggered In all.sorts of situations which I do agree with you, mine just comes out of the blue. It's horrible when it happens, you can't think straight, your body feels like a car which can not start, you just feel terrible 😕
I have often thought sitting position especially after eating ,even a light meal is connected and yes ,i have only had a couple of episodes during day in 5 years....they always seem to be in the evening , food for thought.
Good to hear from another American who feels as you do about your pressy! The first American who I commiserated with when he called turned out to have voted for him but the next one said he was thinking of coming to live here in the UK now!
A lot of us are thinking "WTH" regarding the stress levels the new pressy is creating. Stress has everything to do with our health. It won't just affect us here in American but the whole world.
it seems to me people see what they want to see. Maybe you are seeing someone that is a real person instead of smoke and mirrors. I love the new president, but he makes me cringe at times because he is who he is. I don’t agree with everything right now. Also remember he cannot just do everything he wants to do sometimes that’s good sometimes it’s not because it could be a good idea, you don’t even know what goes on in the background.
it’s like seeing someone in a movie that you don’t like don’t watch it he is trying to take our country back. Have you noticed how many things he has changed already as far as what he planned on what he actually is doing? The one I was upset over has to do with Canada. My dad was Canadian, which means I have Canadian in me. I have always felt Canada and the US is family and I’ve been upset over some of the stuff going on, but it’s also being changed. Maybe he tries to not show favoritism because people know. We are usually very close with Canada.
take a deep breath turn off the news. If it upsets you don’t go blaming him like the Democrats do for everything going wrong. Perhaps people from other countries should look at their own stuff. We all have opinions. I was raised when it used to be said not to discuss religion and politics maybe because it’s a bit like a fib it doesn’t seem to have a cure.
I often think of politics like or movies where they improvise a lot and a lot of it isn’t real.
Your comment is hysterical! He build his empire cheating the workers out of their hard earned money by filing bankruptcy and destroying their businesses he donen’t give a fat rats ass about anyone but himself.
Do some deep breathing and turn off the news. I find certain positions trigger a faster heart beat as well. when that happens I sleep on a wedge to elevate myself a bit that seems to help also.
Your Felon-elect and his Boy Wonder are causing us great stress over here, too. I often feel arrhythmia starting when I get into bed and sit half-up with my neck bent, reading or playing a phone game. But alcohol and coffee have no impact whatsoever on my AF, and, if anything, help. In fact only binge drinking has been clinically shown to cause AF and coffee has been shown in several studies to be completely safe if not actually helpful except in a few who are ultra sensitive to caffeine in general.
The key issues seem to be blood pressure, sleep apnoea, diabetes and excess weight.
So far the federal judges are stepping in, like you said Let's hop and where will it lead. they want to find ways to cut spending to give themselves more tax breaks. That trickle down never works.
The letters online from sacked government employees make for tragic reading.
The mentality that so many government departments, even the FDA and Education, are there to corrupt rather than help society is an odd one for me to process. I can imagine them to be inefficient and self-serving, even to be misguided; but to be corrupt? My cynicism just cannot stretch that far, and yet, the mind of Trump, Musk et al have no problem with calling them out in the most evil and unlikely terms. It is turning the way the world works upside down in some ways.
OThe FNP at my heart doctor finally said to me, when I complained that I always felt thirsty even after 60 oz of water, "Well, I did tell you to put a little pedialyte in your water, didn't i?" What?!? No, she did not!! Game changer...i don't have it nearly as frequently. O only use two packers a day in 60 oz of water... In fact, I'm almost back to normal all the time other than being a little tired in the afternoons. Crazy! I also noticed that many of the symptoms that I have are listed on low levels of iodine... something they used to use as a preservative in bread but no longer use and it's needed. I incorporated a seaweed- based iodine half pill twice a week. Huge improvement! Good luck. Btw, shame on adding politics. Some of us admire what they are doing for our nation. Change is never easy...ask those career politicians sucking off the teat of America.
Hi there. The post you have written you are right about heart palpitations laying back at a certain angle.you are so right, it happens to me, I have to sit up in bed, no so comfortable though, can't lay back in the dentist chair as well..I think the reason is that the heart is under more stress when the body is in certain positions. If you lower your head and it gose pass your heart, sometimes it brings on heart palpitations and fast heart rate, it's horrible 💔 😪
