hello everyone. I need advice
I am a 50 YO male who takes Metoprolol XL For AFib. I was diagnosed in July of last year. I was on 100 mg Metoprolol XL twice daily. My heart rate was too low according to my Primary Care Doctor. I called my Cardiologist and let him know. They lowered my dosage to 50 mg XL twice daily. Which worked. I put my 100 mg XL tabs away in my drawer where I store my medication. When going to fill my pill counter I accidentally grabbed my 100 mg XL tablets instead of the 50 mg XL tablets. I am not too sure how long I had been taking the wrong dosage. I discovered this mistake last night. I don’t think I was taking the 100 mg XL for too long but not 100% sure how long. I’m going to switch back to my 50 mg XL tabs this morning ( I’m in the U.S.). I had some side effects but did not link it to the Metoprolol till I realized I was taking my old prescription. Can switching back to my 50 mg XL pills have any consequences if I had been taking the 100 mg XL for longer than I thought? Thank you in advance for any feedback!
