I started taking amlodipine 5mg and ramipril 2.5 mg few days ago ago. My blood pressure has already dropped significantly but so has my resting heartbeat- is now around 50 and sometimes goes slightly lower. Is this normal or cause for concern?
My resting heartbeat is normally around 63.

Everybody's heart rhythm fluctuates throughout the day, and their resting heart rate will also vary. However, if you have noticed a change in your heart rhythm or any other side effects upon taking new medication, please consult your pharmacist or doctor without delay.
I've had my Ramipril increased recently from 5 to 10 mg but BP was still high. I've since been given 5mg of Amlodpine as well which has worked but I've had no change to my heart rate, which has stayed at around 55. I am also on Bisoprol.
Possibly the Amlodipine. It's a calcium channel blocker but not of the type usually used to slow heart rate, however, everyone is different so as Tracy says, check with your doctor.
Your heart specialist should give you a 24hr Heart Monitor.
Drs simply raise or lower the med. It is the heart specialist who changes your meds especially a CCB.
Bisoprolol controlled my BP. Diltiazem for H.Rate.
ACE meds gave me a cough.
It takes a while to get the meds right.
Advice from my specialist was that if my H/R went low was to stop the BB Bisoprolol. But in September last year I had odd things happening like having to wait after picking up the ping pong ball. Then later lying on the bed and closed my eyes the world was kinda 1/2 rotating.
I stopped the Bisoprolol which made the H/R rise a little higher but still under 100. The BP is still settling. I had asked the Dr who said she would get back to me straight away. She didn't do what she promised although some sort of correction/change in meds was to stop Bisoprolol. I had to act myself. I was really disappointed in her!
At 47avg H/R Night I don't want it to go lower. The Diltiazem 120CD mg is used up during the day to allow my normal low H.R to stay where it is. Does that make sense.
I’ve always had a low resting heart rate of 55-60 but now I’m on Dronedarone for SVT and bisoprolol for ectopics, it is now a resting heart rate of 41-43 and drops to 37 overnight when I’m in deep sleep. All other metrics are fine and I don’t suffer from any symptoms of bradycardia so my cardiologist is completely happy.
Hi I use an Apple Watch. Mine is Series 8 but I think they are now at Series 10.
Apple do official refurbished and you c as often get them slightly cheaper on there. They are ‘ordered but returned’ items and are essentially brand new and still come with a 1 year warranty.
