AF is an irregularly irregular heart beat. It can be fast or slow. It can really only be defined by an ECG showing no P wave. Normal Heart rate is between 60 and 100 bpm and generally AF can be much higher, typically mine was 200+ during events. Rates around 120-140 are tachycadia (fast heart ) but may not be AF.

Not all fast heart rates are AFand not all irregular rhythms are AF either.

You may have been experiencing sinus arrhythmia, which is as it states - sinus rhythm but the timing between beats is irregular.

If it was regular but fast it may have been (sinus) tachycardia - which again just means a fast normal rhythm.

It may also have been something like supraventricular tachycardia which is a fast rate with the beat coming from a different place in the atria.

None of these generally require urgent care unless you have other things going on.
