Cardiomymegaly is the correct medical term and means that the muscles of the heart have become stiff , often from over work and are not pumping so well, It is not a death sentence and many people live long and happy lives with proper treatment.

Also, you may want to check the British Heart Foundation page where others likely share your condition,
Had a similar experience, although I was in middle of treatment plan, after 3rd round of chemo, my heart was racing, and admitted as HR was above 200 BPM after several days of investigation and scans ,they also discovered I had Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (enlarged heart muscle). That was 4.5yrs ago, so getting cancer could have prolonged my life, with the heart issue being found. Biggest lesson I have learnt is, your body will react differently to others regarding meds, sometimes takes weeks for you to get used to certain meds, ready the leaflets re-side affects, and listen to your body, and inform DRs....Don't live in fear, just be a bit more careful...few golden rules 1. Limit alcohol and caffeine 2. Holidays - Do not sit in heat/cold too long 3. Try to not get stressed......Most of all just be thankful you are now aware.
All the best
Bobby.
I have an enlarged heart from dilated cardiomyopathy. From my experience the stress from having the diagnosis of the condition and the constant worry (though I try not to dwell on it) about its potential trajectory are far worse than the symptoms of the actual condition, which have mostly not been too bad, with a few blips. I am on lots of pills for it but leading a pretty normal life still with a lot of competitive sport and general exercise. Modern medicine can’t necessarily reverse an enlarged heart but it can certainly keep it in check. Should you turn out to have cardiomyopathy there is a great Facebook group for people with it.
Hi
Yes I had that found in other MRIs of spine.
But since rapid Heart Rate under control with CCB Calcium Channel Blocker, it has reduced to normal.
But still have damage of severely dilated left atrium.
Diltiazem 120mg CD at 8am.
As my H/R as normal for me is 47avg, I take it once a day. Full dose is 360mg.
It also controls my BP.
Also acts as an anti-arrhymic safe med.
