I’ve had AF for at least 5 years and have been diagnosed with a enlarged chamber in my heart that leaves me breathless after doing the smallest of activities.
These symptoms are getting worse and my consultant gives me the impression that he can’t do anything for me, I’m 72.
I would be interested in people about my age if they have this problem and what if anything their Doc/Consultant did more for them than my Consultant.

Enlargement of the upper chambers - the atria - is common in people who have AF. Did your cardiologist tell you which chamber is enlarged?
Breathlessness is a complaint many of us have - especially when our AF is active. If you take drugs, especially beta blockers, perhaps you need a change of drug.
If, as gingercats suggests, your cardiologist can’t be bothered about a condition that is getting worse, then a change of cardiologist may be in order.
Please give us more info - someone will have been in the same boat as you.
My Afib is constant and keeps me awake at night. My Cardiologist suggests going to a clinical psychologist to deal with the symptoms!! So far the abnormal beats have not shown up on the ECGs but I definitely have them. Does anyone know of another process to detect the abnormal beats.

Hello I have Left ventricle hypertrophy and a dilated left atrium. And my cardiologist was not bothered so I have asked to be referred to St Georges for a second opinion and I am awaiting the appointment. When I am rushed by ambulance into rhesus they just cannot understand why nothing is being done other than drugs. But when I spoke to the cardiology secretary she said the Dr didn't think it warrented my being seen in clinic.
