Hi everyone..just received results of my echo..but won't see a doctor until after Christmas..I'm sure some of you will be able to explain in layman's terms please Impaired lV systolic function with ejection fraction 46%...normal rv function with mild mitral regurgitation

Your comment about being in AF at the time indicates you suffer from paroxysmal AF?
I'm not a medical professional but I would be wondering to what extent the EF result of 46% is lower than normal because the measurement occurred while in AF. We know the heart doesn't function effectively while in AF and that might be a contributing factor or even the cause of the lower than normal result.
As previously stated though, I'm not a medical professional and it's best to discuss the results with your doctor. I'd be interested to hear the outcome. Good luck.
It was so unfortunate for you to be in AF. I agree with Bean-Counter. How on earth can they obtain an accurate reading when your heart is all over the place? Sounds wrong to me, but l am not a medic.
